Our Commitment

Modern slavery is one of the most complex and important human rights challenges of our time. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), the term modern slavery covers a set of legal concepts, including forced labor, debt bondage, and human violations and trafficking.

UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 sets the path for DK Company A/S commitment to prevent modern slavery within our business and supply chain.

DK Company A/S constantly seek ways to secure and further develop the efforts and practices and are committed to acting ethically, with integrity and transparency in our business dealings by initiating effective systems and increasing controls to safeguard against any form of modern slavery or violations taking place.

Policies supporting this policy

DK Company A/S refers to the following documented policies that support our business in an ethical and transparent manner.

These include:

Amfori BSCI Code of Conduct

  • The Amfori BSCI Code of Conduct is based on the following:

    • Universal declaration of Human Rights

    • The Children's Right and Business principles

    • UN Guiding Principles for business and Human Rights

    • OECD Guidelines

    • UN Global Compact

    • ILO Conventions

Human Rights policy

  • Based on UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights

Child Labour Policy

Our CSR Policy covering:

  • Human Rights Policy

  • Anti-Corruption Policy

  • Ethical Sourcing Policy

DUE DILIGENCE

Our Due Diligence procedures are based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

To minimize our adverse impacts in own operations and within our business we work towards:

  • Identify where in our value chain we may cause or contribute to human rights violations

  • Prevent any violations we may cause or contribute to throughout our supply chain

  • Mitigate the impact that we may have caused or contributed to.

Our biggest exposure to modern slavery is in our global supply chain, where we are constantly working with our suppliers to minimize the risk of modern slavery. All Suppliers and factories are subject to due diligence checks:
Supplier’s 3rd part audits and assessments are important tools to confirm compliance and to identify breaches to our Policies and the Amfori Code of Conduct.
However, beyond the 3rd part Audits, the additional routinely visits and continuous dialogues between suppliers/factories and our local DK Company Audit & Compliance Teams are more important than ever: the on-site monitoring of their practices for modern slavery indicators also allow us to better understand our modern slavery risks:
We look for modern slavery indicators that can suggest heightened risk, e.g. including the presence of workers who are part of vulnerable populations, a supplier’s failure to deliver on a promised term of employment, a supplier’s retention of identity documents, debt bondage indicators such as charging recruitment fees, mandatory overtime, etc.
If issues are identified, appropriate investigative and remedial actions will be taken to achieve Common Governance.

The areas we have identified as the most likely form of slavery and human trafficking within our supply chain are:

  • Child and Young labour

  • Forced and bonded labour

  • Contract, Agency and Temporary workers

  • Gender Discrimination
